Important marketing strategies for your website:
Search engines use the title of your web page

By Barbara A. Fanson for Sterling Education Centre

Meta tags are HTML code on a web page that provide information about the page so search engines can find the page and display it. The page title and meta description are the most important marketing strategies for your website.

Dreamweaver titles
Page Title
This is an HTML page in Dreamweaver. The Title that you type at the top of the page in Dreamweaver will appear at the top of the page when displayed in a browser such as Safari or Explorer or Firefox. If someone bookmarks your page, this is the name that will show up. Choose a title carefully and avoid more than 70 characters.

More importantly, page titles are used by search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and Bing as the title in the search results. Each title should be unique for each web page you have on your website.

If someone uses a search engine such as Google to search for computer tips in the Hamilton area, Google will display the title of the page.
